I was doing some work on the ole' 'puter with iTunes going when "Little Red Riding Hood" by Sam the Sham came on. This just popped into my head. I know I've seen an old school print somewhere in my reference pile of a girl doing the shadow puppet but I'll be darned if I can find it. I assure you, I did NOT set out to copy it, I was inspired by the idea and ran with it.
I've been wanting to do a full page illustration of some kind for ages but I've never had the idea until this one appeared. I didn't have any work that day so I started it and couldn't stop. I completely lost track of time and if I took a break, it wasn't a long one because I wanted to get right back into colouring it.
I've put a watermark on because I'm really happy with it and the last thing I want is for it to be stolen. That being said, this will be a print as soon as it's approved so I suppose anyone could just swipe it from there...
This has so much personality, Leigh. (Is it totally weird that I see all your sassy, spunky, adorable girls as partially portraits of who you are?)
The tail is a brilliant detail, particularly since it takes a minute of looking to really get it. I love this so much! Hurry up with the print offerings, willya? I want me one of them. (Can I buy it from you directly, so I can get a rock star signature and stuff?)

this character is adorable, and the last comment holds true for me too, reminds me of an old Tex style cartoon from the 40's I think because of the wonderful colours you have used

And that is one of my favorite songs. I always put it on my Halloween mix CDs.
